Privacy policy
This page explains what the Shires Farm Shop website does with information about you. We have written it in plain English.
Who we are
This website is run by Shires Farm Shop, Smiddy Hill, Walton, Wetherby LS23 7DF. The owners of Shires Farm Shop are responsible for how your information is used.
You can write to us at hello@shiresfarmshop.co.uk.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set cookies when you visit it, and it does not use analytics or tracking tools. Our fonts, images and code are all served from our own website, so your visit does not send anything to other companies.
Two optional parts of the site involve other companies, and only if you choose to use them. They are described below under “The map” and “The contact form”.
Visiting the website
Like most websites, our server keeps a short technical record of each visit, such as your device’s internet address, the page you asked for and the type of browser you use. We use it only to keep the website running and secure, and it is deleted automatically after 30 days.
The contact form
If you send us a message through the contact form, we ask for your name, your email address, what your message is about and the message itself. We use these details only to reply to you. Our legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering messages people send us.
Your message is sent by email to hello@shiresfarmshop.co.uk. We do not keep a copy of it on the website. If the email cannot be sent, the form tells you, and nothing is kept, so you can try again. We keep your email only for as long as it takes to deal with your request.
To stop spam, the form has a hidden field that people do not see, a limit on how many messages one address can send in an hour, and a check from Cloudflare Turnstile. The Turnstile check is loaded only on the contact page, and only when you start filling in the form.
To apply the hourly limit, the website stores a scrambled code made from your device’s internet address, together with a count. The code cannot be turned back into the address, and it is deleted automatically, normally within a day.
When the Turnstile check runs, Cloudflare receives technical information about your device and browser, such as its internet address and browser type, so it can tell people apart from automated programs. Cloudflare also uses this information to improve its checks. Find out more in Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy notice.
The map
The map on our pages starts as a photo. Nothing is loaded from Google until you tap or click to show the map. If you do, Google Maps loads on that page and Google handles your visit under its own privacy policy.
Once the map is showing, Google may set cookies and collect information about your device. If you would rather it did not, use the “Get directions” link instead, which opens Google Maps only when you choose to.
Weather
The weather on the home page is fetched by our website, not by your browser, so your visit is not shared with the weather service.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, to correct it or delete it, or to stop using it. Email hello@shiresfarmshop.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Where your information is processed
The website, its database and its photos are run by Google Cloud in London. Pages are delivered through Google’s worldwide network. Contact form emails are handled by Google Workspace (Gmail). Google and Cloudflare may process information outside the UK, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
